Cambodia's Hun Sen has been in power since 1985

The Prime Minister of Cambodia is visiting the 2018 UN General Assembly in NYC and Cambodian Americans rally on both sides outside of the UN Headquarters. Hun Sen is credited with helping achieve economic growth and peace after the devastation caused by the Khmer Rouge regime, responsible for one of the worst mass killings of the 20th century. But the prime minister, 65, is also seen as an authoritarian figure with a poor human rights record and the resources to thwart any real political challenge. He shows no signs of wanting to relinquish power - in June 2018, he vowed to rule for 10 more years. His ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has dominated Cambodia for decades, but has faced competitive elections. The party went into the July 2018 elections facing no significant rivals after the main opposition - the Cambodia National Rescue Party - was dissolved.

10 Tips to Make Your Home PC More Secure

Here's a list of 10 things I came up with that will help make your PC a little more safe out in the wild. I use every single one of these and can not tell you the last time I have been infected. If all people with computers and laptops followed these simple rules, we'd see a lot less spam and viruses floating around on the internet.

  1. DO NOT visit sites that may be malicious. Installing Mcafee Site Advisor can help with that.
  2. Never click on links in any emails that look suspicious, even if it looks like it’s from someone you know. Email addresses and links are easily spoofed.
  3. DO NOT download from Peer2Peer networks. If the RIAA doesn’t scare you, then maybe identity theft will? Doing so puts you at a HUGE risk of downloading trojans and viruses. Most infected computers I’ve seen have Limewire or similar file sharing programs installed.
  4. Install an Anti-Virus program. My favorite by far and the one I recommend for all my users is Avast.
  5. Install multiple Anti-Spyware programs. I usually go with Windows Defender, Spybot and Adaware…yes all 3. I like Spybot’s “immunization” feature.
  6. Update on a regular basis. This means, your anti-virus and anti-spyware definitions and most importantly your Windows security updates.
  7. Use Firefox. Internet Explorer has vulnerabilities that hackers love to exploit. Although Firefox is not 100% safe, it is not the focus of many hackers like IE is. If you have to use IE, upgrade it to version 7.
  8. Install a hardware firewall/router. Connecting your directly to a dsl or cable modem leaves you open to port scanners and worms. For extra security, turn on your Windows Firewall or use something like ZoneAlarm.
  9. Enable security on your wireless network. You never know what your neighbors could be doing.
  10. Ever see those weird popups that say you were infected and you need to download something to clean it? Don’t click OK! Often times, they look like legitimate Windows messages, but usually, it’s a popup attempting to navigate you away or even worse, install spyware onto your computer.

**BONUS TIP** Protect your computer with a strong Windows password. I shouldn’t need to explain why.

Outlook 2007 Cached Exchange Mode

Configuring Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook turns on Outlook's ability to download a copy of your user's mailbox to the local drive. The biggest advantage of this is improved performance on slower or troublesome networks and the ability to work offline. I use it mainly for laptop users, who don't always have a stable connection. I don't recommend this for desktops on your LAN that are always online.

Open Outlook and goto Tools > Account Settings...

You will get this window. Click on Change...

Check mark Use Cached Exchange Mode

Click Next then Finish

You will be prompted to restart Outlook

Synchronization will occur once Outlook is able to establish a connection with the Exchange server. Depending on how much email you have received since your last synch and the speed of your connection, it could take a while to update if you have a slow connection and many new emails.

Once synchronized, you should have those emails offline.

Outlook Auto-forward Rule

At the company I work for, we've turned off Out-of-Office replies for external emails, so it's useful for our customer service dept to be able to redirect emails to another recipient when we're not in.

The screenshots here are done using Outlook 2007, but the steps should be very similar for 2003.

go to Tools > Rules and Alerts...

Your Email Rules should open up. As you can see, I have a few rules already in service. Select New Rule...

This will start the Rules Wizard. First you'll need to select your conditions. Put a check mark where it's most appropriate for you. I will be Forwarding ALL emails to me. You may want to select only certain people.

Click Next. Select "forward it to people..." obviously, this is the rule that tells Outlook to forward your emails.

Click Next. Here you'll need to select your exceptions if any. I've set mine so that it will not foward meeting requests, Out of Office messages and any emails from my brother.

Now we get to name our rule and choose whether or not to run this rule on emails already in your inbox.

Next time you're on vacation and you want to send all of your spam to your cubicle buddy, just go back into your rules and turn it on.
